Apple TV making high frequency sound when pausing

I had some problems with my Apple TV gen 3, and now the same problem with my gen 4. Each time I hit pause or go to the menu in Netflix while playing something, a really high frequency sound gets played. There are a couple of answers for the gen 3 ATV, and one suggested selecting 16 bit sound instead of auto. I tried that but it did not work. I dont know what to do, this is only a Netflix problem, all other apps play back sound properly.

Apple TV, tvOS 9.1

Quitting the app does stop the sound, but as soon as you pause something you are watching again i Netflix, the same ear-piercing sound comes back again. So quitting the app is not a solution to the problem.

After fiddling with the settings for a while, I found the solution to the problem myself. I have just a Stereo sound bar from Philips connected with TOSLINK cable between the television set and the sound bar, its just a plain stereo bar, so no surround. Since the Apple TV has Surround Sound option set to Auto as default, I tried to change it to Stereo just to see if that did the trick. And yep, the high frequency sound was gone. Now I can pause whenever I want, without suffering from pain in my ears.

For others having the same problem, go to:

Settings => Audio and Video => Surround Sound - and choose Stereo from the menu.

If that does not work, then change Audio Mode from Auto to 16 Bit:

Settings => Audio and Video => Audio Mode - Click the remote and it will cycle between 16 Bit and Auto.
