Text substitutions in Terminal

The text substitution feature in Mac OS X is an interesting and helpful feature. I see that we can use this feature in applications like TextEdit. However, is there a way we can use this feature in the terminal application?

I'm using this feature from System Preferences > Keyboard > Text

OS: Mac OS X El Capitan

Okay, let me elaborate in detail. There is a text substitution shortcut feature available in Mac OS where you can invoke a text string that is frequently used by typing a text shortcut associated specific to that text string. For example, instead of typing 'I will call you back in 10 min' all the time, a text shortcut '10min' can be associated with the string. So, whenever you type '10min', the actual string 'I will call you back in 10 min', will be invoked. This feature works fine in applications like TextEdit and Mac Mail etc. However, Terminal doesn't support this feature. Is there a way we can implement this feature in Terminal coz I use some lengthy commands all the time which can be helped by this functionality.

Hope I have clarified.
