Q: Does 2.1 work w/ iPad 2?

It SAYS it updated, and I even updated via iTunes, and re-synced and EVEN restored and installed the app fresh.

But I still seem to have the older version.

The documentation I've read says it should, in theory, work on iPad 2, right?

I've got it on my iPhone 6, and Live Loops is there, and all the new stuff.

But on my iPad 2 (iOS 9.2.1) all i get in the "cover flow" is "INSTRUMENTS" and no Live Loops

If you're like me you've got the new drummer features and track volume automation, but not the new live loops. You'll also find that Music Memos won't install either despite the suggestion here http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2016/01/20New-Music-Apps-from-Apple-Transform-iO S-Devices-into-Handheld-Studios-for-Song… that it is compatible with iPad 2. I read somewhere else (not sure where now) that the bulk of the new features need an A6 chip whereas the iPad 2 is an A5.

Well, I wish they would be more upfront about it. I spent (literally) hours installing/reinstalling because I thought it was a glitch. I kept reading the documentation, but all it says is "iPhone, iPad w/ iOS 9.1".

    Not awesome.

Can anyone please confirm if it is possible to successfully update GarageBand to version 2.1 on an iPad2 running iOS 9.2.1 ?

I have seen multiple 1 star reviews saying that it crashes instantly on an iPad 2 every time it loads - is this true?

I'm not worried about "Live Loops" much, but I do use this app a fair bit, and don't want to lose it if an update doesn't work!

GarageBand is at the top of my Updates list and obviously a big 1gb download, what happens if it crashes after the update?  Can I revert back to the previous version of GarageBand?  Is there any way to take it off my updates list without removing it?

It is running on my iPad 2 now, though it did crash on launch a few times before I got it running. May or may not have had something to do with the 40 or so updates that were trying to update in the background.

Downgrading an app runs the risk of losing its data. You would need a copy of the version of the .ipa that you want to restore and would need to backup the device, restore it to factory settings, and then restore your backup.
