iphone 4 given to my 3 year old. She is pretty quick with flicking; results in content deletion. Is there a setting to not allow a user to delete/modify content without a password?
Seems like a simple thing to overcome.

There is no setting to deny content modification with a password. You can restrict certain content and apps, but the only way to keep the child from deleting content is to keep a close eye on her and teach the toddler the proper use of the phone - or deny her use of the phone until the child is a little older and understands exactly what she is doing.
