Q: Iphone 5 Bluetooth icon sometimes does not show up on the status bar eventhough it was turned on

Hi,

My iPhone 5 is a bit weird lately after installing a fresh copy of ios 9.2.1 and I've set it up as new. The Bluetooth icon sometimes does not show on the status bar eventhough it was turned on.

Here is my screenshot

I believe thats either of these to things. 1. your not connected to anything with blue tooth there for your not really "using it" 2. Its a software issue and maybe if you take it to the apple store they might have you turn it off and back on reset it or tell you to wait for the next update, if you want to save gas or if you ride or walk save energy of if you the person that has an electric car electricity you can write a quick review to apple and say hey guys make a new update, I really need one heres my problem.

    Thanks for your reply,

I actually have no devices connected to it but I do have an Ipad logged in with the same apple Id, so the Bluetooth supposed to work with continuity features of ios9

Um i don't believe how that works. Continuity works when your on a a device lets say your mac and your in a rush you can finish it in your iPhone. Continuity won't do anything to bluetooth. iCloud won't save anything from your blue tooth since when you pair with blue tooth think of it like a one way relationship. your iPhone five would tell the product your paired with what to do when to do and how to do and when its over your phone disconnects the product or forgets devise. When something is paired over blue tooth the pair won't be saved to another devise. Unless you discount from one devise to another.

Since you just said that you updated your phone, try rebooting it, just long press the home button and the power button at the same time until it shuts off then the apple logo reappears.

According to the apple surport page about continuity is say that some continuity features requires Bluetooth. Link : Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support

That seems to work but then my Bluetooth icon goes away then show up on the status bar while writing this reply on my iPhone 5. The Bluetooth icon shows up during start up with some delay when other icon already showed up.

I think then its a software issue and all you need to do is wait for an update or turn your phone on and again to see if that helps.

Oh dear, I forgot to mention that during the public beta of ios 9.2.1 public beta, I didn't have this issue.

I'll try checking my parents  device running the ios 9.2.1 and see if they have the issue.

Try deleting some devices on bluetooth. Go to settings Bluetooth My Devices and delete some devices there then reboot. hope that helps.

I have not paired any devices via Bluetooth since I've set my iPhone 5 as new. I forgot to mention that during the public beta of ios 9.2.1 public beta, I didn't have this issue.

Maybe if your pair a product the icon will show. Other then that take your phone to an apple store and get a certified look and response from an apple employe.

Try pairing your iPhone on a bluetooth device, just not on a Mac(iPhones and Macs disconnects because they are unable to transfer files via bluetooth, its only used for bluetooth PAN)

That appears to work for now. I'll mark it as answer. I've paired my iPhone to a Bluetooth speaker.
