all those processes : what does rtcreportingd do ?

a request for rtcreportingd to connect to pancake.apple.com recently popped up (Little Snitch)

- can anyone tell me what this process does ?

- Is there an official Apple list describing all processes that are part of OSX ?

I did some digging, and it looks to be a phone home to verify that your device is authorised for home sharing. Do you use home sharing?

I wouldn't worry about it either way - pancake.apple.com is legitimate and it's only an authorisation server. I'd allow any outgoing connections to it in order to make sure your iTunes/home sharing content works properly.
