How to save photos to mac and delete from phone?

I have imported all the photos on my iphone to my mac. I would now like to delete the photos on my phone to free up storage but when I try to it says that the photos may be deleted from all of my devices. Does this mead they will disappear altogether?

I have icloud library on the mac and phone turned on.
