iPhoto to Photos from Time Machine back up

Hi everyone

Im in the process of upgrading to OSX 10.11 El Capitan after a new SSD upgrade and wondering how I go about importing my iPhoto library that's part of my Time Machine back up to the new Photos app.

I was waiting to complete the OS X install before I complete any Time Machine migration or recovery.

Since I will no longer have iPhoto on El Capitan I am confused on how I get my iPhoto library from the Time Machine back up and into Photos.

Any ideas?

Restore the Library from Time Machine and then just open it with Photos.

Thanks a bunch guys.

I'm not having much luck with my time machine back up.

Instead, I managed to copy the iPhoto Library file (47GB) to my external drive.

I am able to restore this into Photos on El Capitan OS X 10.11.3?

I dragged and dropped the iPhoto library from Finder to my external hard drive.
