restore error code (-1)

I am trying to restore my iPhone 5,but iTunes is giving error after some time.The error code is (-1).It was a gifted phone.Ii dont know if its CDMA or GSM.I tried the CDMA IPSW file but it isnt accepting the iPSW as it isnt compatible.so i moved to GSM file and that is giving the error.I am using the latest iTunes version and latest IPSW ,iOS 9.2.1.I tried two different wires but still no success.I dont know whats causing the error. Please help.

When you connect iPhone to computer iTunes it will automatic choose the right IPSW file when you update or restore.

What you are doing is hacking (trying this and trying that).

ALSO DONE THAT ..buT THE ERROR STILL POPS UP AT THE SAME INSTANCE.Couls you provide with any other technical help..??

Error code -1 is indicative of hardware failure.

Make an appointment at the nearest Apple store to have your iPhone evaluated.

Once the diagnostics are complete, the staff will explain your options.
