Q: My screen is stuck in picture mode. There is a lock at the top left of the screen but nothing happens when I tap it?

MY 4 year old iPad has suddenly become stuck in portrait mode. There is a lock symbol at the top left of the screen, but nothing happens when I tap it. Can anyone help me please. I'm not really capable of doing anything complicated. Thank you.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1)
