Q: trying to restore ipod because it was disabled but I get an unknown error 3194

my daughter has an ipod touch 6 iOS 8.4 and I believe my son kept entering the wrong passcode and now it's disabled and needs to connect to itunes. I tried the steps to restore the ipod but they haven't worked. I tried using find my iphone to erase it but it says her ipod is offline but it is turned on. then I tried connecting to itunes and putting the ipod in restore mode then it would start to download the update but would then give an error. It said, "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)."
