Q: Itunes Cloud Music Library working on Apple Watch?

Has anyone been able to sync an itunes cloud music library playlist from their iphone to their apple watch?  I took my watch to the genius bar thinking something was wrong with the watch I bought two days ago because I could not sync any of my playlist from my iphone 6 to my watch.  After the genius bar whom exchanged the watch for a replacement and then another 45 mins on chat with apple support no solution was found.

After much more fiddling around, I discovered that the only way I could transfer any music was to shut off my iTunes Cloud library in my music app on my phone.  This leaves me only with the music I had before I signed up for apple music.

Is this a bug?  Because both the sales guy and the tech from yesterday indicated I should be able to use apple music with my apple watch.  In fact it was confirmed by the tech that I should be able to use Apple Music on my watch.

Has anyone been able to fully sync icloud music to their apple watch?

    Hi

When using your watch as the music source and when Bluetooth headphones have been paired to it:

    • Apple Watch can play music from a playlist that you have synced to the watch.
    • You may need to download any music stored in the cloud (eg Apple Music, iTunes Match) to your iPhone before you can sync it with your watch.

When your iPhone is within Bluetooth range, Apple Watch can be used to control playback of music from your iPhone including:

    • Beats 1 - Apple's worldwide radio station.
    • Now Playing - control what is currently playing on your iPhone.
    • Quick Play - which chooses a list of songs for you (requires Apple Music).
    • My Music - your own music library.
    • Playlists - listen to playlists on your iPhone.

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for replying!

I tried everything including the instructions on the link you gave.  The tech last night showed me that page as well.

When iTunes Cloud Library is enabled on my phone those playlists show up in my watch app's music section.  But when I try to sync a playlist, the watch app under music where it says "Synced Playlist" would cycle between Syncing and Sync Pending. Sometimes it would show 0% syncing, but mins later it would go back to cycling between Syncing and Sync Pending.  As a last resort  I left it overnight to see if it might just be the way it shows feedback for syncing but nothing got copied over except for the meta data for the playlist.  With the watch as source, the playlist is on my watch but none of the songs are actually on the watch (they are listed as greyed out).  This morning it was still doing the syncing and sync pending cycle (10 hrs later).

It did this exact thing when I was at the genius bar (which is why they exchanged the first watch) and while I was with tech support on chat.

I've tried unpairing and re-pairing the watch 3 times now.  I've tried resetting the phone's settings and network settings twice now then re-pairing the watch. And of course rebooting the devices now a dozen times.  It simply won't sync anything while my iphone music app is using the itunes cloud.  Do I need to subscribe to itunes match too perhaps?

And yes all the attempts at syncing was while the watch was attached to the charger.

Before syncing the playlist to your watch, check that your playlist contains only tracks that you have already downloaded from iCloud to your iPhone (tap the iCloud download button to download music from an artist, album or playlist to listen to offline).

yup the songs on the playlists I tried with were already downloaded on my phone. Each of the songs have the mobile device icon next to them

instead of the cloud. I tried this with a few different playlists. I even created a playlist with only songs I know were purchased by me from iTunes and another list that was purely music that I had in my library previous to the music cloud. None of these playlists would sync. All reacted the same way. The meta data gets synced but not the music itself they all show greyed out.
