If you have allowed the computer to run until the battery is near totally dead
that can affect the overall battery life and it may suddenly quit later on.

An associated possible issue in regard to charging or running a portable on
the battery, is the power adapter... read about the MagSafe product.

A fair idea may be to see about contacting a retail official Apple Store
and get a reservation for appointment with a Genius staff member. If
there are no official retail Apple Stores, you may be able have an
authorized Apple service provider or retail agent help diagnose it.
