Q: Why is my apple certified compliant lighting cable no longer compatible as of today?

Bought 3 lighting charger cables that were certified as Apple compliant. They were working fine until today. Today I received the "this cable is not compliant" and no longer charged the phone (in fact it started discharging my iPhone 5). Did Apple change anything?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.2, 7.1.2 OS on the iPad also

When did you purchase these cables? Have you checked the area of the lightning port on the phone for any lint, dirt, debris? Have you tested one of the other of these 3 cables to see if they work? Take a bright flashlight, a soft, dry toothbrush, and a small, wooden toothpick and check the lightning port on the phone. Blow out with a can of compressed air. Test after that.

I am having the same issue.  I purchased my certified lighting cable in November 2015.  I know it is still a good cable or else the message would not appear.  I realized it stopped working as soon as I downloaded the new software update iOS 9.  Whatever they did cause my charger not to work.
