ApplicationsHi,
Do you use Little Snitch or any other app that can monitor the ports and IP addresses that Apps connect to and act as a firewall to ones you don't allow ?In this picture the three items listed are involved with Messages.
The middle one is the one for Picture transfers.
There is also a similarly named IMTransfer one that also needs to be allowed for AIM and Jabber based Pics-in-chats.
(it shows up when the File Transfer happens)

When you try to send Pictures or files the IMFileTransferAgent one should pop up to ask to be allowed.
There in fact two very similarly named items, one for iMessages Transfers and one for the iChat method in AIM and Jabber chats.
Of course when I try a trigger it I cannot find it.
It has also been a while since I double checked when sending Files that it does still use that process.
Found them for iMessages.
I am sure the AIM/Google/Jabber on is "FileTransfer..."
