I'd like to change my channel on my old airport express FROM channel 1 TO channel 4 or 8. When I try to save the changes, a message pops up saying that there is "invalid values". Is there a way to fix this?

I sounds like you already know how to change the settings on your Airport Express, but you are running into issues with saving those changes. Let's see if we can get those sorted out.
At that point, you might want to restart your Airport by removing it from power for a few seconds and then power it back on to then try those steps again. If that does not work, then the next thing to do would be reset your Airport and set it up again to save those changes.
