Numbers - Graphs and Charts - How do I add notes to groups of data points or individual data points in a series.

I am using a 2D line chart to show the progress of my weight loss which I will give to my doctor.

I want to select a group of data points, or individual data points in the chart and place notes or labels on them so I can identify things like water weight loss, food consumption, and splurges and so on.

Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric,

is it possible to link the labels to the data point so the label follows the data point as the chart grows?

No. The labels will be separate.

You could, however, fix the size of the chart by fixing the range of dates when you set up the chart, rather than adding to it as you go along.

On a scatter chart, empty table cels will produce no data point on the chart and no connecting line after the last entered data in a series.

Here's a sample chart with some data entered and one tag placed on the chart:

And the same chart, a few weeks later, with added data and labels. Note that the first label has not moved, nor have the dimensions of the chart changed.
