how do I separate my phone from my husband's apple id?
Somehow, my husband's apple id is now connected to my I phone and I get some of his messages and can't create my own cloud id. Any one , any suggestions?

Hello marialouisa24,
Can you tell us a little more about your situation? Were you and your husband sharing an Apple ID (email address?). What Apple ID have you been using to back up your phone to iCloud or purchase items in the iTunes Store?
The first step is to go to the appleid.apple.com website and find what Apple ID you have been using. If you need to change the email address associated with your Apple ID, you can do that. If you need help with your Apple ID, I'll include a link below to our Apple ID Account Security Team.
Once you've got that straightened out, follow the instructions below to link your iPhone's telephone number to your Apple ID. Your husband should do the same on his iPhone. I've highlighted some key information for you here. Click on the links for complete details.
If you forgot your Apple ID
Use these steps to find your Apple ID.
Your Apple ID is the account you use to sign in to all Apple services. If you forgot your Apple ID or aren't sure that you have one, there are a few ways to find it.
Try a different email address
In most cases, your Apple ID is your email address. First, try signing in with all prior email addresses that you might have used as an Apple ID.
Use your Apple ID account page
- Go to your Apple ID account page and click Forgot Apple ID or password.
- When you're asked to enter your Apple ID, click Forgot Apple ID.
- Enter your first name, last name, and email address. If you enter the wrong email address, you can try again with a different one.
See if you're already signed in with your Apple ID
You may already be signed in on one of your Apple devices. View the Apple ID that you're using for these services:
From your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
- Tap Settings > App & iTunes Store
- Tap Settings > iCloud
- Tap Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
- Tap Settings > FaceTime
- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
If you find your Apple ID, but still don't remember your password, reset your password.
Check iTunes for previous purchases
If you previously bought something in the iTunes Store, you can check which account was used to purchase it.
If the Apple ID has changed since, then the name in File Info won't work.
- Open iTunes.
- Click one of your purchases. You can find your purchases under My Music or Playlists.
- Choose File > Get Info.
- Click the File tab.
- The ‘purchased by’ will show your Apple ID in parenthesis that was used to buy the item.
If you find your Apple ID, but still don’t remember your password, reset your password.
If you want to change your Apple ID after you find it, we recommend that you update it in Settings for all of your Apple apps and services.
As a reminder, you only need one Apple ID. Using multiple Apple IDs might be confusing when you access purchased content or use Apple services.

Link your iPhone number and Apple ID to use iMessage and FaceTime
When you sign in to iMessage or FaceTime with your Apple ID on your iPhone, your phone number will link with your Apple ID. This lets you use your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime on your other iOS devices and Mac.
Get started on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Sign in to iMessage:
- Tap Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
- Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage. Then sign in with your Apple ID. Use the same Apple ID as your iPhone.
- Select the phone number and email addresses that you want to be reached at.
Sign in to FaceTime:
- Tap Settings > FaceTime.
- Tap Use your Apple ID for FaceTime. Then sign in with your Apple ID. Use the same Apple ID as your iPhone.
- Select the phone number and email addresses that you want to be reached at.
After you sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch, your iPhone will get a notification saying that your Apple ID and iPhone are now being used with iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch. You’ll get a notification for every email address or phone number that you enable on each additional device.
Unlink your phone number associated with your Apple ID
To unlink your phone number, remove your Apple ID from iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone. Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
- Go to Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with iMessage and FaceTime. If the phone number is still available on your other devices after you sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone, you might need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all of your devices.
If you don’t have the iPhone with the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
Take care,
