Trade in options for Apple Watch

I have been disappointed with the constant slipping of the Milanese Loop band on my Apple Watch. I wish I had ordered the black link bracelet so what are my options at this point?

Would I lose a lot of money to trade-in my current watch with the Milanese Loop for one with the link bracelet? The bracelet I want is on sale in specific Target stories but not available to order online and Target will or cannot tell me which stores have the bracelet I want in their inventory.

I am trying out an alternative link bracelet and I have far fewer problems with having to enter my passcode through the day (which happens often with the Milanese Loop band).

If Apple Watch2 comes out this year, what is it going to be like to trade my current watch for the new edition? I bought my watch from Best Buy and they said I must bring the current watch to them and get a BB gift card to apply to the purchase of the next watch.

I know it is very convenient to trade iPhones for the newest one when ordering from AT&T, but how will Apple handle trades when Apple Watch 2 is finally released?

You have asked previously about your band options here:

If your band has since been checked by Apple (you said you had booked an appointment) and it was not found to be defective, you may wish to consider selling your existing watch and/or band privately.

Whilst the Apple Reuse and Recycling Program does offer credit for the trade-in of certain devices, Apple Watch is not presently included within the program.

I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you anything about Apple's unannounced plans, including regarding future models, prices or trade-in options (this is a user-based technical support community). It is also not allowed here to speculate.

Thanks for an informed response.

As I reported in the previous thread, Apple did replace my Milanese Loop band but it too starting slipping within 24 hours of use so I am wearing an alternative bracelet. I have posted the same notes on a major travel forum and others are reporting the same problem.

I was not asking to speculate on how much credit would be given to my watch when watch 2 becomes available but rather the process. For example, when I order a new iPhone through AT&T I can continue to use my current iPhone until the new one is delivered at my house then I turn in the old phone at an AT&T store.

I Find a nice leather strap more secure than a milanese loop

Apple or another make.

Thanks.

A friend at the office has a leather strap and even keeps the watch on when playing racquetball. However, I have never worn a leather strap and so I am working to keep that tradition alive. 🙂

Apple does not presently offer a trade-in programme for Apple Watch and it is not allowed here to speculate about such matters.

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your Milanese Loop, especially after you say Apple replaced it.

I have a 42mm Sport watch on a Milanese Loop and wear it to play golf and squash without any problems.

Glad to hear the Milanese Loop works well for you. I very much like this band, but tire of entering my passcode once an hour.

Since my last post, I got a sale price on the Apple black link bracelet so that addresses my immediate concern.

IM not sure which options you have already exhausted, but last I checked (last week) bestbuy offered me a trade in price of $130.00 for the stainless steel watch with white sportband. Amazon offered $121.00 for trade in, and target also accepts trade ins, although I'm not certain how much they will offer. I suggest visiting bestbuy's trade in section on the app or online; you can look up your product and your options and should you choose to accept bestbuy will email you a certificate to lock in your price for 5 days, I believe. Amazon is pretty good as well. After you accept your offer, they email you a free ups shipping label and within a week a gift card balance will post to your account. If they appraise the condition for less than what you claimed, you can choose to have your item sent back or choose the lesser amount; should it be in better condition than stated they will give you the higher amount. The longer you wait to trade it in, the less valuable it will become. Hope this helps!
