Song didn't download properly, can't delete it

I downloaded a song on iTunes and connection was lost halfway through so it didn't download properly. It's showing up as downloaded in My Purchased Items but the song itself won't play and I can't delete it from iTunes. I've gone into the iTunes music file on my computer and it's not showing up there but I synched the whole album to my iPod and the song plays fine (and it's full length). So how do I get iTunes to recognise that the song is on there, when I don't know how to delete it and redownload?

Thanks

iPod touch, iOS 9.2.1, iTunes on Windows 8 laptop

Hey there 13moose,

It sounds like your download here seems to be stuck and won't play or delete from your library. I would attempt resuming the download with the steps in this article:

Resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads

Restart a download on a Mac or PC

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Windows: Hold down the Control and B keys on your keyboard to open the iTunes menu bar. Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads. Learn more about menus in iTunes for Windows.
  3. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.

If you still can't restart your downloads, get more help.
