DesktopsSparse Bundle is essentially a Disk Drive simulated in a file.
It is the format used for Time Machine backups on Network disks. It is quite stable.
But just so that you don't get surprised later, when you delete files out of it, the file size on the NAS will not shrink to reflect the change in size.

Servers EnterpriseI would not say it was impossible to use a disk image including a sparsebundle disk image with FCPx but a more common approach might be to use an iSCSI client to connect to the NAS server.
