Q: HP printer driver broken

iMac running OS 10.9.5

Finally let Software Update install HP Printer Software Update 3.1.  Big Mistake.  HP printer won't print properly any more.  No help from HP.

How can I find/revert to the old version of the HP printer driver?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Do you have a backup you can restore the old driver from?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

Already tried reloading the driver and resetting the printing system during HP troubleshooting.  Definitely a bad driver, as printing from another Mac with older driver works fine.

I think the latest clone of my HD was made before the Printer Driver update, but I don't know where to look to extract the printer driver, or whether copying the file to the proper directory will work.

I've had this problem with HP printer updates in the past, so I always make sure to have a opt of the old (working) driver on hand when I update.  On my Mavericks (10.9.5) system it's at ~/Library/Printers.

    Goof luck

Check the hard drive level Library/Printers in your backup.

No luck with the printer drivers.  Reseting printer system didn't work.  Copying everything from Library/Printers and ~/Library/Printers on the backup didn't change the printer driver.  I've copied everything HP I could find on the backup, and still the printer preferences shows the new driver number.

Apparently the only solution is to copy photos I want to print to my laptop (not updated) and print from there.  Kind of *****.

Lesson:  DON'T EVER INSTALL AN UPDATE UNLESS THERE IS A CLEAR NEED FOR IT

Can you copy the driver from your laptop to your iMac?

Copying the Library/Printers folder from my laptop caused crashed on every attempt to print.  I'm stuck with being able to print photos from my laptop but not from my iMac.  Unfortunately, the iMac is the machine I edit photos on.
