Q: I am still receiving text messages from my phone in iMessage even after I've signed out of the account.

have you checked Settings/Messages on the iPhone? There should be an entry SMS-Forwarding or similar (I have a German iPhone at hand only ;-)). I assume, you'll find his work computer there.

Hello KateZilla I hope I can be of assistance!

     When you go onto the messages app on the Mac, go to the top of the screen and click the label iMessage. After you do so go to preferences and a tab should open up with preferences for the iMessage app on the computer. After it opens, go to accounts and through there you should be able to resolve your problem by de-activating the account/changing the settings needed.

Just had a look at Apple Support, the setting I mean is

     Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding

as you can see here (section "Set up SMS and MMS with Continuity"):

     Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support

Hmmm I think I have an idea. When you open up those tabs again and go to accounts, click on the user's account and uncheck the methods of being reached as well as disabling the account. Maybe this'll fix your issue.

Hi,

Just to check how it was set up first.

Enable Messages on the iPhone in Settings > Messages. (Allows iMessages using the iPhone Number)

There is an option to Enable SMS/MMS as an alternative.

Enable the Apple ID on the Mac version of Messages to the iMessages account.

Allows iMessages using the Apple ID.

Add the Apple ID to the iPhone in the Settings > Messages > Send and Receive.

This links the Number and ID so iMessages sent to either will appear on all devices. (Apple call it "Sync" but it is not really).

Enable the iPhone to join the Wifi/Same LAN as the Mac.

Then the Settings > Messages > Text Forwarding can be set. (this is for SMS from iPhone to Mac and allow similar in return)

This triggers an pop up on the Mac version with a Code number that must be put back in the iPhone.

When this is done the item become a tap option to show the connected devices.

As Lars-Iver Kruse says this is the Spot to Undo the link to the Mac and possible end the Text Forwarding.

What you can't tell in the current version of Messages is who is sending what as all received items are grey bubbles.

The bottom of the chat should identify though whether it is iMessages, Text or IM service.

This one is an IM service using Google Talk.

This chat is actually an AIM IM chat but text chats will have the Contact/Buddy in the same Green.
