Not without using three Apple IDs and setting up 1TB plans on each.

There is a really important issue you are overlooking. Reading or Writing that much data to a Cloud account would take about a week, Presuming the site stayed up, which is out of your control.

You can but a 3TB drive for about US$200.

i realise you are replying in good  faith.

but , no didn't overlook the time taken to upload. why would  a week be  a problem.?

yes i know how much hard drives cost.

you say  site stayed up?  are  there stability issues with iCloud?

backing up off site is an essential part of a  professional technology workflow. i dont think my question is unusual.

Who is your internet provider? Many provider have caps of say 250 GB/month for a combination of up and down.

Your question is not unusual at all.

What is unusual is your willingness to put up with constraints that many of the business Users I deal with would find unacceptable.

Depending on another site which is out of your direct control for Backups of your essential data has always been a deal-killer for my clients. Having a restore take a week is also out of the question for most.

Having multiple Physical drives and carrying physical drives off site does not seem so onerous compared to the alternative constraints.

If this works for you, that is great! But it does not work for most of the folks I come in contact with, and that is why my response may appear slanted.

Frankly I wouldn't put my trust investing that much space in iCloud storage.  I would look either at external or another cloud storage platform, that in my opinion is more reliable, like Google Drive.

thank you Zinacef for  the advice will look into that straightaway.

Currently have 5 x 4TB back up hard drives on 3 different geographical sites.

looking to use time machine with an online cloud service as an extra automated option.

FWIW tried backblaze good value of money , took about a month to back up but then after along overseas assignment (over a month) discovered they wiped all my back up if there is no activity (for a month)useless.

out of interest why is iCloud not considered a reliable system?

I'd rather not say on here why I think it's unreliable, but I strongly encourage you to perform a search on Google on the subject of 'best cloud storage' and you'll begin to see why.

    You're most welcome!

I forgot to mention, you can also do a search here of the woes that folks experience with it.

    Good luck!
