Jan 26, 2016 12:41 PM in response to Don Mannby kb1951,There is no "documents" folder on an iPad. For document files, I use DocsToGo. This recent thread discussed downloading files, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7433637, it may be of some help.

Jan 26, 2016 12:48 PM in response to Don Mannby Phil0124,iPads do not have file and folder structures like a computer. If you are uploading a file to an FTP app on the iPad then that folder will be within that FTP App somewhere and will only be viewable from within that App.
What App are you using on the iPad. Transmit connects to a server somewhere, it does not as far as i know tself receive files from another Transmit app directly.

Jan 26, 2016 12:56 PM in response to Phil0124by Don Mann,I have Transmit installed on both the MacBook Pro (been using it for years) and recently downloaded the ios version on the iPad.
I uploaded a .docx file (from the Mac) to a folder on my server ... then downloaded that same file from my server to the iPad (the Transmit app on ios showed only a"Documents" folder.

Jan 26, 2016 1:00 PM in response to Don Mannby sberman,There is something very confusing in your original post.
Don Mann wrote:
Am just setting up my new iPad. To transfer files from my 2010 MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8) to the iPad Air2 (running ios 9.2),
This does not sound good at all.
iOS 9 and later requires at least iTunes 12.3.1 to communicate. (Current versions are iOS 9.2.1 and iTunes 12.3.2.)
However, iTunes 12.3 and later requires at least OS X 10.8.5. (Current is OS X 10.11.3.)
Therefore, I strongly suggest you immediately update your Mac to OS X 10.11 (El Capitan):
Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support
OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard, was released nearly seven years ago.

Jan 26, 2016 1:02 PM in response to Don Mannby Phil0124,The documents folder would have to exist inside the Transmit App. If you click on the "Local" tab at the bottom of the App do you have a list of folders?

Jan 26, 2016 1:40 PM in response to Don Mannby Phil0124,Seems like you are tapping the settings icon on the bottom left. Tap closer to the center.
According to the Help page on Transmits website, it should have a set of local folders you can browse.
