Jan 26, 2016 10:26 AM in response to Ahab the Eskimoby Ahab the Eskimo,In Settings > iCloud > Manage Storage there is no music category... So no Music takes up any space?? So I don't need to buy iCloud Storage space to store 180GB of iCloud Music Library mp3s?

Jan 26, 2016 10:34 AM in response to Ahab the Eskimoby Demo,I do not use iTunes Match or iCloud Music library, but this is how I understand them to work.
iTunes Match does not need iCloud Music Library. iCloud Music Library must be enabled when you subscribe to Apple Music. iTunes match does not use iCloud Storage. You need to enable iTunes Match on the phone in Settings>Music>iTunes Match>On.
Maybe these will help.

Jan 26, 2016 10:50 AM in response to Demoby Ahab the Eskimo,That's not right. When I go to the setting Music > iCloud Music Library and try to turn it off, I get the prompt:
"Disable iCloud Music Library
This will remove all iTunes Match songs from this device, except for songs you've downloaded"
Which also makes absolutely no sense...

Jan 26, 2016 11:05 AM in response to Ahab the Eskimoby Demo,You're right. I apologize. You need to have iCloud Music Library turned on for either service. Hopefully, this explains it a little better.

But I believe that iCloud storage has nothing to with iTunes Match. You don't have to purchase additional storage to use iTunes Match.

Jan 26, 2016 11:11 AM in response to Ahab the Eskimoby Phil0124,Demo is correct. iTunes Match does not use your iCloud storage at all.
iTunes Match scans your computer. and if it finds songs that match existing songs in the iTunes Store, it will let you access those directly from the iTunes servers. Un-Matched songs form your library are uploaded to Apple's servers, but also do not use up space in your iCloud account. You have a 100,000 song limit for iTunes Match whether matched or unmatched.

Jan 26, 2016 11:17 AM in response to Phil0124by Ahab the Eskimo,Got it. Clearly they have some semantic issues. I will cancel my iCloud storage ASAP since I have no use for it again.

Jan 26, 2016 11:22 AM in response to Ahab the Eskimoby Phil0124,Yup. They use the term "iCloud" for everything not stored on a device. whether it be in your actual iCloud account or not.
