My mac says I don't have 2gb of memory when i have 90gb

I am trying to update to el Capitan from snow leopard 10.6.8 but it says I need 2gb of memory and I have 90gb. I cannot update to any other newer operating systems. I have a mac mini 2011. I installed snow leopard on a disk that I don't have any more.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.8), mid 2011

The 2GB requirement is for RAM, not disk space. Buy the RAM from a source such as Crucial or OWC.
