What I want is to be able to have Notifications bring up Chrome instead of Safari when I click on Show.

Nope...that doesn't work. I have Chrome set as default browser in El Capitan's preferences, but clicking on Notification Center pop-ups still brings up Safari.
Did you actually test this before posting the reply?
