Upgrade late 2012 MMini

Hi, have really enjoyed my migration to Mac, got the mini with Fusion drive (128gb ssd and 720gb mechanical drive)

Have well and truly outgrown the limited space.

I don't personally see the benefit of Fusion, so am proposing to fit a 500gb Samsung evo850 pro and a 1tb hybrid drive. Install the OS and apps on ssd and data saved on other drive.

The hardware side is not a problem but I have no experience in reinstalling. I want a clean install. My question is, if I make a bootable usb drive with El Capitan on, fit the new drives, boot and select the ssd as install target, I assume I will be ready to reinstall my apps and data. Do I have to worry about device drivers and stuff or will the OS take care of everything? (except of course external devices like printers)

Thanks in anticipation

This is correct "if I make a bootable usb drive with El Capitan on, fit the new drives, boot and select the ssd as install target, I assume I will be ready to reinstall my apps and data".

No drivers are necessary for the Mac Hardware.

Just note some users have reported problems with the Evo 850 Pro in a Mac.

With a non-Apple SSD you have to manually turn on TRIM
