I stopped my backup halfway through because it was taking too long. I only got roughly 1/3 of my pictures downloaded. Is there any way for me to download the rest of the pictures I am missing without having to load that particular back again? I don' want to lose the new pictures I have acquired but I also want my old pictures back. Thanks.

You might get lucky, plug your phone to a charger and connect to wifi and see if the icloud backup will continue, if not you'll need to start over again.
Either email the new pics to yourself or import them to your computer.
I paused my backup midway through and only had half of my pictures restored.
