Q: How to recover Mac OS partition?

I was trying to install windows 10 on my macbook pro mid 2012. I used Boot Camp to create a partition for windows but i kept getting "The selected disk is of the GPT partition Style" so I looked up for a solution and found out that I could fix this problem by cleaning the partition that I created for windows.

This video shows what I did but instead of cleaning the whole disk I used the command "list partitions" and "Select partition" to only clean the specific partition for the windows installation. It worked except that now the computer does not detect the original mac OS partition. I have no clue what to do .

Most of my files were backed up so I'm not worried about the files (It would be nice if I could recover them all tho).

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

If you have a time machine machine backup and installation media - original discs or a usb installer - you can restore form your time machine backup. Did you erase the recovery partition as well? Hold command key & R key at startup.

Im able to boot the recovery partition but I do not have a time machine backup setup. Is there a way to reinstall the OS even if I don't recover my files?

boot into the recovery partition select reinstall os x. This will install over the existing OS X. This is of course if the partition that had OS X has not been totally deleted. If no partitions are seen you will have to use disk utility to create one. This will delete any files on the drive.

I tried that but the only partition that comes up is the small windows partition and when i try to create a new partition in disk utilities, it gets stuck in "preparing disk for partition", left it like 3 hours on that screen first try and 1 hour on the second try.

Do you have a usb installer or can you create one. I would boot from the installer and try to erase the hard drive and do a clean install of 10.11
