Jan 26, 2016 3:10 PM in response to Shane Rossby lesfromrussellville,Thank you for answering me. I am new to the forum and appreciate your patience. My situation is this I have a clip that was sent to me by a friend with the same software I have. The clip had a lighting effect on it that I liked but wanted to put another overlay effect circular light, then put the whole thing in slow motion. When I apply all of the effects it plays beautifully and just as I wanted but when I render it or export it the slow motion effect plays at regular speed but all of the other attributes stay put. My question is has anyone else had this problem and how was it remedied? -2 for spelling

Jan 26, 2016 3:18 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,What is the codec of the clip? ProRes? H.264? DV? Something else?
What are your sequence settings?
Did you render this clip, after you applied everything?

Jan 26, 2016 3:25 PM in response to Shane Rossby lesfromrussellville,DV Is a .mov
Yes I rendered it after applying everything. It plays fine as long as i don't render or export it.
Not sure what you mean by clip sequence settings

Jan 26, 2016 3:27 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,Look at the clip in the BROWSER...main window. Scroll to the left until you see a column for COMPRESSOR. What does it say there?
And then click on your timeline, and then go to the SEQUENCE menu and choose SETTINGS. What does it say for COMPRESSOR there?

Jan 26, 2016 3:38 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,OK, so you have a mis-match between your footage. I think.. You say the clip you want to work on is HDV...but all of the other source clips are DV? What are your sequence settings? Go to the SEQUENCE MENU and choose SETTINGS. Is it DV? or HDV? or other?

Jan 26, 2016 3:46 PM in response to Shane Rossby lesfromrussellville,OK I found what you are asking in the sequence menu.
Frame aspect NTSC DV 3x2
Pixel Aspect NTSC-CCIR 601/DV 720x480
Anamorphic box checked for 16:9
Quicktime setup is DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
Hope this helps. Sounds like your on to something.

Jan 26, 2016 3:48 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,Yes, your sequence and clip don't match. You have an HD clip in an SD sequence. Make a new sequence. Add the clip to it. When FCP asks "do you want the settings of the sequence to match those of the clip" click YES. Then try doing what you are trying to do.

Jan 26, 2016 3:52 PM in response to Shane Rossby lesfromrussellville,Pardon me for not knowing but how do I perform that? How do I create a new sequence and do I just drag that clip in and do the edits and transfer it back to the other timeline or do I need to transfer the entire project into it and if so How is that done? Im sorry for my lack of knowledge on this but I do appreciate that you are the first one that seems to be getting me close to solving this problem

Jan 26, 2016 4:02 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,In the FILE menu...NEW>Sequence. Or, COMMAND-N. That makes a new sequence. Then, take the clip you have and drag it onto that sequence. or open it in the VIEWER, and cut it into the sequence. When you do that, FCP will ask the question about matching settings.
But now...you have that other sequence, which is DV. Is all the rest of the footage you are working with DV? It seems like it is, based on your other answer. You said all the other footage is DV, right? If so...then you need to work in the DV sequence. But then you have that issue. Hmmm...I need to ponder this.

DesktopsWill I still be able to play HD and SD clips on the same timeline?

Jan 26, 2016 4:05 PM in response to lesfromrussellvilleby Shane Ross,You, you will. That's not a problem. But it's best to have HD clip in an SD timeline, rather that tons of SD clips in an HD timeline.
