Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
That fixed mine too! Thanks! 🙂
Also try to restart Safari or maybe even reboot your Mac.
This has helped me, but also had to disable an adblocker extension.
Same for me. Crazy bug though!
Thank you, rebooting everything seemed to work!
Thanks this helped the annoying glitch that made me have to click address bar twice to see favourites.
Come on Apple!!!
Nice one chap, great help worked for me, was driving me mad.
This has worked for me too. Disabling "Safari Suggestions" has also worked for my iPhone and iPad.
My thanks to you, Chainzz. I'd never have discovered this fix without your help. Does anyone know how this problem originated?
Thanks chainzz, this sorted the problem Wish I knew why it happened to begin with.
Fixed mine also. Curiously other accounts on my MBP don't seem to be affected. Also if you have safari suggestion ON and you select in private browsing the address bar still works properly.
A good fix, now we turn to Apple for a solution...
THANK YOU! Looks like a lot of people experiencing this problem.
Following these steps worked for me:

Thanks chainzz... this worked for me as well.
I found an answer posted here:
Re: Can't click or type in safari address bar
I did the following steps from this post then force quit safari, restarted reenabled suggested searches and it all worked as normal.
2. Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Click “Remove All Website Data”.
Thank you!!!!!!
