Safari crashing immediately when pressing on url bar. Help?

Just about 10 minutes ago I opened up safari and tried to enter a url. Suddenly the app crashed immediately as I tapped the url bar. Tried closing the app and reopening, tried restarting my phone, tried closing the app then restarting the phone then reopening the app, tried changing a bunch of the safari settings to see if anything worked, and it still crashes immediately when tapping the url bar.

I did nothing out of the ordinary in between the time when safari was working and when it stopped working, so I have no idea what could be causing this problem. I was literally using perfectly a couple of minutes before it just pooped out on me.

Something that does work though is copy/pasting text into the url field, because that doesnt require you to actually open the bar, it just pastes and searches the copied text. So that's good i guess.

Still though, any advice as to how to fix this? I'm on iphone 6 ios 9.0.2 right now, still haven't updated to 9.2.1. Do i really need to?
