Q: iphone 5c 8gb used space 4,6gb but apps add up to less than 2gb

Good morning to all.

I have an iphone 5C 8GB and the used space when i go to Settings>Storage & iCloud Usage is 4,6GB.

Going to Settings>Storage & iCloud>Manage Storage all apps add up to less than 1,8GB.

Where is all this place lost? I have a friend with a same iphone using more or less same apps and has a free space of 2,5GB when in the contrary i have less than 200MB.

Would appreciate your help! Thanks

iPhone 5c, iOS 9.2.1

    Hi aek21,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your iPhone. While I can't say for certain what may be taking up this space, if you continue to have unexpected or unexplained storage usage you may find the information and steps outlined in the following article helpful. In particular, you may want try using iTunes as described to get a breakdown of your storage usage by type. Also note that for certain cached storage (such as is used for certain types of iTunes streams and downloads), iOS will automatically manage the usage and will free up more space as needed.

    Cheers

As noted in that article, Documents and Data can include:

    • Documents & Data: Safari Offline Reading List, files created within apps, and app content like contacts, calendars, messages, and emails (and their attachments)

You would need to determine individually what accounted for that data and delete it if necessary.
