MacBook won't charge

I have a mid 2010 MacBook. Everything's been working find until today. This mac has only been in my possession for a month or two and generally i dont know much about mac's. All of a sudden today the magsafe would stop working. It'll still light up but be green even if the computer is dead. The computer turns on every so often but dies as it has no power. There are some things in the port but they were there before and it worked just fine. They seem to be metal.
