com.apple.Safari.plist missing

com.apple.Safari.plist missing

I have a problem in that Safari Version 9.0.3 (11601.4.4) - I cannot type a search or a url into the Safari URL address bar. Can see the cursor but it does not allow me to type in the box.

Went to move/reset the com.apple.Safari.plist and am unable to find it in Library/Preferences.

This on a 2011 Macbook Air. El Capitan, version 10.11.3 (15D21). Updated to this today.

This appears to have been just after this morning's update (for me) of OS X.

Anyone else seeing this?

The Safari plist is in ˜/Library/Preferences not in /Library/Preferences

The issue is everywhere the last two days: see a lot of threads here of yesterday and younger. A lot of different advice, no "universal" solutions.

OK, now I feel like a noob. Yes, you're absolutely right. Plist found, moved, Safari restarted, OS restarted, and no change.

However, checked my iMac, also 2011, and running same OS X and same Safari. No issues. Works as advertised.

Still looking for a solution and thank you for your response.

I searched forever (long time) and did not find your solutions. Just have to use the right words one supposes when searching.

Update:

Anomaly noted. URL appears to be over written. Like typing on the same line on a type writer over and over.

Safari->Preferences->Search: uncheck: "include search engine suggestions" and uncheck "include Safari suggestions" when checked.
