How do i get itunes to work on windows Vista?

I used to run Itunes on my windows Vista computer. Recently, my computer crashed. I did a clean re-install of windows Vista and downloaded Itunes again after that. Before installing, i saw that i would be getting a version for XP and Vista, so it should be the correct version.
However, upon trying to install it, i got a message that itunes will only work on Windows 7 and up. How do i get it to work again?.

Typical Apple bungling. They are so far above being a mere software vendor that it's difficult to say when they ended support for Windows Vista. Was it the first time they released an iTunes version that could not be installed on Vista? In that case, support for Vista ended with the release of 12.2.0 on June 30, 2015. Or was it the last time they released a version that could be installed on Vista? In that case, support ended with the release of 12.1.3 on September 16. Or was it the first time they released a version that caused problem reports on Vista without ever taking any action to correct the problem? In that case, support for Vista ended with the release of 11.2 in May 2014. I have a Vista PC so I know exactly what you saw at the download site. Unfortunately this is baloney: there have now been six versions that cannot be installed on XP or Vista.

The most recent (and likely final) release of iTunes that supports Windows XP 32-bit and Windows Vista 32/64 was issued September 2015. It includes support for iOS 9, though not Apple Music. Apple Software Update won't necessarily fetch it for you and may claim you are up to date when you are not. The iTunes download page may not offer it to you either.

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates if you have any problems installing it, or for direct links to the current or other recent versions.
