Q: iMessage won't work

everytime I click to activate my imessage it says "error occurred during activation" ive had the iPhone 5s for 3 days now and it will only send iMessages if i use my email address which isn't helpful, please help

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.2.1

You need to enter your Apple ID which is an email address in order to activate iMessage. Go through these troubleshooting steps.
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
