IOS 9 and HTML5

IOS 9 seems unable to play HTML5 videos on the web from a number of sites. For example look at mediafront.org. The videos there play well on chrome and play reasonably in Safari on OSX. Android plays them well but IOS 9 not at all. Why? Any suggestions for website builders ?

🙂 , yes ckuan, well aware that apple will not allow flash. That particular player though once played the mp4 version from Youtube. Now , its serving up the flash version despite a MP4 version being available on youtube. Using that player you can upload a swf plus a mp4, and the player will play the appropriate file for the user - remember, i'm talking web browsers. since IOS 9 the appropriate file format ( mp4 or swf ) is not served up. It seems the swf file now is used all the time.

I thought maybe iOS 9 might be not respecting java script which I think is how it was done. I was wondering whether someone might know of a workaround - like some javascript i could insert into the head of the html that is served up. Of course i am most likely wrong about all this - i'm a photographer not a IT person.

Thanks for replying ckuan , appreciate it.

Because I build and run community websites and users like to post youtube/vimeo vids. Youtube serves up swf files even if it does have mp4 versions. I look for ways to make life easier for the users. Sort of like constantly building workarounds over the years to accomodate people using internet explorer. When youtube stops sending flash videos all over the place I will not have to worry.
