I Don't like how pictures turn out when using front camera in the dark with the new Retina Flash. is there a way to control the brightness of the screen when it flashes?

Find the manual settings and set your Exposure +/- to minus 1 or 2.
Some camera apps may also have separate flash compensation settings.
With any automatic settings, if you lower the flash exposure, your backgrounds will get even darker.
