Iphoto unexpectedly quits when uploading project

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions? I am trying to upload a large number of photographs from a project from iphoto to Apple in order to get them printed.

I've managed to create a few folders, and upload successfully, each of these containing about 100 - 150 photos.

I have one folder though with just over 300 photos that constantly crashes iphoto when trying to upload. All the payment and delivery details are taken, the upload stars, getting to 20-25% at which point the program unexpectedly quits...

I can't bear having to create a new folder, as once photos are assigned to a project you can't copy them, cut and paste them or split them into a new folder (at least not that I can find)...

Any help would be superb.

With many thanks,

Mr Johno.

What kind of project is it? A photo book? a calendar?

If iPhoto is crashing during the upload one of the photos might be corrupted.

Can you create a PDF preview of your project? If yes, check it carefully if items have not been rendered correctly:

See this link: Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support

If iPhoto also crashes when rendering the Preview, try to isolate the item that is causing the crash. It might be a corrupted photo or markers on a map.

To isolate the item duplicate your project. Remove half of the pages from the copy of the project and try to preview it again. If that succeeds, the culprit is somewhere on the pages you just deleted. Now copy the project again and test with the pages you previously removed. Remove half of the first half of pages and test again, until you are are left with a small set of pages that will crash when previewing. Test the photos on these pages if they can be edited. If not, replace these photos by differnet photos.

Hi Leonie,

I've had a chance to go back and try your suggested fixes. The project is saved as a prints project - and because of that, I'm unable to preview as a pdf, right click, or really do anything. There one or two images which are low-res (marked with a triangle) which be slightly substandard when printed but there are no obviously corrupted files.

I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

With many thanks,

Mr Johno

Hi LarryHN,

Thanks for coming back to me. I did look closely at the link that Leonie kindly sent me. The problem that I have is that if I command right click on the project I get two options...1.) Duplicate project or 2.) Delete project. There are no options as suggested to save as pdf. If I open the project and right click around the photographs as suggested no options are presented. If I try and export the project through the tool bar I can only export as jpegs. I have taken screen shots for reference if it helps. I have no option of a side bar either.

I don't see what I'm missing - Thanks very much for any help in advance.
