Q: My Apple Mac Air is reporting nearly full HD

I have a Mac Air running El capitan 10.11.3

I have a 256gig Solid state drive and my problem is that the Documents file reports in Finder that it is 32 Gig in Size, but when I look at the items in teh Drive, they only report as 6 gig, so I have 26 gig hidden in there.

How can I find it? and once Ive found it, can I delete it if its in the Documents Folder??

Nothing in the ~/Documents folder is required by OS X so it is your choice to delete or keep. It sounds like you may need to re-index spotlight, I would do this first.

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.
