    Try to reset Safari settings:

    1.Open Safari

    2. Click on Safari menu at the top(to the right from the Apple logo)

    3. Select preferences/privacy tab

    4. Click on Remove all website data

    5. Close Safari.

    Delete Safari cache files:

    1. Click on finder

    2. Look for GO menu at the top

    3. click on GO and hold down the option key. This will show user library folder.

    4. Click on Library and look for Caches folder

    5. In caches folder open com.apple.Safari folder

    6. Move to trash Cache.db file.

I know of 2 issues with Safari in El Capitan

    1) ESET anti-virus interferes with Safari (maybe other anti-virus interfere as well).

    2) The Safari search bar is not working correctly (both Macs and iOS devices).

For some strange reason - the problem has gone this morning!  Was about to try your suggestion but when I went into Safari the problem had gone (so far) - don't know why because I rebooted a couple of times yesterday and it still didn't work.  Many thanks anyway - I'll keep a note of your resetting Safari details.

I am afraid that didn't work at all !

Safari keeps crashing despite most remedies posted so far!

It's just highly frustrating as Apple ignores probably thousands of posts regarding this problem...

    Hello !

Before following the steps make sure if any anti virus is running , please uninstall  , spinning beach ball occurs due to kernel panics , third party software that has been installed , to stop SBBOD , safe mode is used .To sort out safari issues :

Please go to go folder and type : ~/Library

Find folders caches , cookies , saved application state , select all contents of them and move to trash .

Click on safari folder and select all contents except book marks ( as you must be using ) and move to trash .

Also logs contents could be emptied .

Make sure , internet plug -ins , input methods are empty .

Restart the computer & empty the trash .

Fresh contents will be recreated .
