Q: I need to know!

I've been doing some research on if i can use a macbook to see if there is a certain one i should be getting to support the 2020 design program but none of them

answer my questions. So my question to you guys are you able to direct me to a certain macbook that can support the program.

 

The Hardware Recommendations:

Processor: 2.0 GHz Quad Core CPU

System Memory: 4 GB RAM (32-bit system), or 8GB RAM (64-bit system)

Hard Drive: 500 GB HDD (7200 RPM desktop, 5400 RPM mobile), or 128 GB SSD

Graphics Card: Dedicated 2GB graphics card*

Monitor: 1280 x 1024 screen resolution

Optical Drive: DVD-ROM

Security Device: Free USB port for the 2020 Design license (‘dongle’)

*Graphics Card Recommended Providers:

We recommend that you buy a computer with a dedicated graphics card and avoid integrated graphics cards or chipsets.

    I would think any new MacBook would support those features. Even my late 2008 MacBook seems to match them as far as I know offhand.

    Those are pretty modest requirements for almost any modern computer.  If you do get a new computer the issue may be available USB port.  I use a 2008 model and it has two ports but I think some Apple models have only one and even with two you almost certainly have to use an external USB hub to accommodate things unless you are really able to do everything wirelessly.  I have no idea what this thing is you wish to use and if it has to be on all the time, if it requires a lot of power, etc.

    Actually, If you are looking at MacBook Pros, only the 15" MBPs offer the required Quad Core CPU. The rest are Dual Core only. 

     

    Beyond that, everything else is covered by any model you choose from the 15" lineup.

     

    With that said, I have to wonder whether the Quad Core CPU is actually required.
