Does iBooks Store require an ISBN for an e-book?
Must I purchase an ISBN to publish an e-book with the iBook Store?

true not required. but ...
1. the easiest way to prove that you own the copyright for any devious attempt to steal your work.
2. your work is automatically copyrighted even if you do not obtain an isbn and even if you do not specify the copyright notice in the book. provides a legal means to recover monetary damage against the pirate which is not available otherwise. extra deterrence from someone stealing your work.
