Iphone 6 Plus cuts off in cold

Hello! I have a 64g Iphone 6 Plus that once the temperatures get down below 40F it will shut off and display the icon like its dead, until the phone starts to feel warm to the touch then it will cut back on. Will Apple consider this a battery issue and charge me to replace a battery and possible fix it or replace the device? It is still within the one year time frame. Thanks in advance!

It is definitely temperature related. I have an iPhone 6S and have exactly the same issue. Once the phone drops to around 40F it suddenly shuts off and battery icon appears instructing me to charge. This occurs regardless of battery level. Once it's warmed up again (place in warm pocket or hands for a minute) it allows you to turn back on.

Okay, what "icon like it is dead" are you referring to? I was of the understanding you observed a temperature warning. If it is just the device turning off, then user troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore to factory, testing after each step. The phone feeling warm could indicate a process being stuck, and the restore should correct that. It would be unusual for a iPhone 6 series to have battery issues already, but not impossible. I would try the troubleshooting steps, and if that does not fix it, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the device examined. Apple will explain your options.
