Power Mac 7100/80
Does anyone know why my Power Mac 7100/80 would, when I look at the System Profile, call the Simms I put in Dimms and not tell me which slots they are in?
Power Mac 7100/80-OTHER, Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier

Hi,
Did it ever?
I don't remember 8.6 that well, but I think I remember a time when the OS did not report the slots, just the amount of RAM.
Your equipment profiler only says "Mac OS 8.6 or earlier." Can you be more specific?
I have have working PowerMacs running older OS versions:
1) 8100/80 running OS 8.1 (should be the same logic board architecture as yours)
2) 7600/132 running OS 8.6
I can look on those to see how the slots report once I know your actual OS version
It does show the slots and amount of RAM.
It's 8.5. I have switched the RAM between the two 7100s I have and the 80AV shows all the SIMMs as SIMMs while the 80 shows whatever I put into the slots as DIMMs. It even shows its onboard memory as DIMM.
It does show the slots
vs:
not tell me which slots they are in?
????😕
