DDR3 vs DDR3L for Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 15 Inch

On crucial.com I have selected my system that I have, Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 15 Inch. I want to upgrade to 8gb of ram but I want to know if their DDR3L will work. On their site it says the DDR3 is 1.35 volts and the DDR3L is 1.35 volts as well. They are both the same speed, 1600. What's the difference between the two and will the DDR3L work? My current ram is DDR3 4gb and the speed is 1600. Thanks.

It is the small differences in implementation that make RAM not work reliably with Macs. Crucial backs the RAM it sells as "compatible" with warranties and customer service ... so does macsales.com (OWC). Many recommend against Corsair and other brands (at least the cheapest products in their lines) because the actual implementation of voltages and speeds result in sporadic "invisible" behaviors that make Macs not like it.

When you select both of them and compare, their specs are the same. But back to my question, will it work with my MacBook?

I was responding to this part of your post "What's the difference between the two...?" The spec is not the same for both and the site at the links you provided said both will work. So the only part of your post in question was "What's the difference between the two...". Regardless, I'm glad you got your question resolved.
