Q: Screen black and unresponsive to reset or chargingn

ipod was fine, playing music and fully charged but now it won't turn on and the screen is black. Black as in no digital activity black now black pixels. It won't respond to charging or reset. I'm in a different country for 3 more week so can't really send it off for repairs or use the phone support option. Had iPod for about 3 years and no previous problems at all.

any help would be much appreciated!

Try doing a Reset (restart) of iPod, while it is connected to power, if you have not already.  Make sure you move the Hold switch, as described in the procedure document for doing a Reset

If that does not help, did the iPod stop playing while you were listening to music?  Of did you try to use it after it was inactive, and it won't turn ON?  When you say it won't turn ON, does that mean you cannot hear the iPod's hard drive spinning up or humming?  iPod is completely dead... not just the iPod's screen?
